Finding Gems

Ever have something right in front of your face but you don't notice it?
I drove by the Arboretum for two years and didn't realize the gem existed. A wonderful friend invited me to an art festival and I couldn't believe it.

I walked around the Arboretum last week and took this picture. Even though it wasn't Spring where everything is in full bloom, thought this picture showed that something special can always come out of a place, person or thing. It all depends on our perspective - if we look for the good, we will find it. Our Attitude.

I read a quote by Charles Swindoll that literally changed my life. Know that sounds entirely cliche but it did. It opened up my eyes to a whole new world. I've shared it with numerous friends, family and colleagues since in the hopes that maybe it will move someone else. Now you can experience it!

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.
