Two Maine Lighthouses

80 degrees in Maine? Even more reason to get outdoors and enjoy a sliver of all the outdoor activity/attraction options. We explored one of the 3 L's that Maine is known for- Lighthouses! (I recently read that in a tourist magazine. Can you guess what the other 2 L's refer to? Lobsters and L.L. Bean.)

We visited two lighthouses that are a hop, skip and jump away from each other. "Bug Light" was the first one.

I always love seeing people out and about - they were savoring the beautiful summer-like weather as well! Some were relaxing on the benches, while others animating the sky with their kites.

I've never seen a kite as big as the colorful, spiky blob in the background!

Interesting textures...

Feels like summer... things starting to bloom, and beautifully!

Another angle of "Bug Light."

And now folks, the second lighthouse, Spring Light.

The forts in the distance.

Maybe headed to get some of that other L, Lobster, ha.

Up close of Spring Light. Love that it's still supporting Christmas tree lights!

Distant view of another lighthouse (one of the most photographed ones). Can you guess it? Portland Head Light. Will be visiting you very soon. Can't wait!

Great day getting outside and Cherishing the Little. Thanks so much for journeying with me through exploring my post.

Maine Water

Want beautiful water- ocean, lakes, and rivers? Maine's got it. Growing up with the Maine water in my backdoor, I didn't fully appreciate it. It wasn't until going to college when I started cherishing the little moments by the Maine water.

I perused through my old shots and found some of my favorites. Enjoy!

Taking a stroll down Pine Point Beach at dusk. Fishermen hoping to get lucky and catch a big one for dinner.

The other side of Pine Point Beach toward Old Orchard Beach.

One of my all-time favorite places to go while in Maine, Fort Williams State Park. It's home to the oldest lighthouse in Maine, Portland Head Light. Such a great place for a picnic with family and friends!

Another perfect picnic spot is Portland Breakwater Light, more commonly known as "Bug Light."

Mt. Katahdin in the beautiful backdrop before white water rafting the Penobscot River.

Love taking the ferry to Peak's Island, a quick 3-miles from downtown Portland. Below is a view from one of the island's beaches.

My mom discovered a new gem for me, Fort Popham. She said I had to go with her and twisted my arm. When Roxanne is persistent, she usually has a valid reason... We went to Phippsburg to explore.

Built originally in 1861 for the Civil War, and then used again during the Spanish American War and World War I, you can feel the history.

Since I covered the ocean and river, it's time for a lake. So many great memories at "Big" and "Little" Sebago, Long Lake, and more.

Savannah, Georgia

Quaint, historic, southern charm- Savannah, Georgia. I had always heard wonderful things about Savannah but then experiencing it, it still blew me away.

There's something spectacular about looking out your hotel room on the river and seeing a massive cargo ship go by.

The walk along the river is lined with cobble stone, quaint shops, restaurants, and friendly southern folks.

Like the river area is not cool enough, there are heaps of squares throughout the city. While Craig was disappointed that the place where 90% of Forest Gump was filmed had been removed, I still cherished that square and all the others (he did too!). I took the next photo and absolutely love the framing, fountain, moss, and positioning of the strangers.

Something quaint and charming about a city with so much history! This portrait was of Hernando de Soto.

Lastly, the sunsets were unreal! I know it's something that happens every day but how often do we take the time to truly appreciate it? Usually a special occasion like a vacation...
We cherished it!
